For fans of the franchise, the good news is that Assassin’s Creed Infinity has been confirmed and will be the most ambitious Ubisoft game ever. The bad news is that it won’t be out until 2024.

Rumors have been circulating about this title recently, and Ubisoft confirmed they are working on Infinity with an official statement on their blog. While the name Infinity may not be the final title, it represents Ubisoft’s plan for this game and the future of the franchise. Specifically, it is a platform with “room to expand” for many years after its initial launch.

In this sense, Ubisoft seems to be taking inspiration from the upcoming Halo Infinite. Developer 343 says the game will put an end to numbered sequels in favor of a live services platform that will grow and evolve over the next decade. It looks like Assassin’s Creed will try something very similar.

Part of what makes Assassin’s Creed Infinity exciting is Ubisoft’s promise that it will ultimately contain more games that “have a different look and feel”. So we could get all the diversity you’d expect from multiple franchise entries in one game.

But it’s better that the fans aren’t too excited yet. Journalist Jason Schreier confirmed that we won’t see this title until 2024.

Assassin’s Creed Infinity also seems to signal a change of direction for Ubisoft. For example, the corporate divisions of Montreal and Quebec are now “unified” into what the company calls an “inter-studio structure” that will ultimately help them “lead, grow, evolve and define the general future of Assassin’s Creed.” .

Do you think the next game will be better than the previous rumors, or is this a bad sign for the franchise? Be sure to let us know in the comments!
