Cheaters have always been the worst part of the online multiplayer experience, and previous Battlefield games have suffered from them. Now, developer DICE is planning to permanently ban Battlefield 2042 cheaters without any warning or suspension.
This news comes via an EA blog post. DICE will use the Easy-Anti Cheat service to detect cheaters. Since this service helps protect popular games like Apex Legends, it should do a good job of ridding the “battlefield” of annoying cheaters.
Most surprising, however, is that DICE has announced an absolute zero tolerance policy for cheating. Caught cheaters will be instantly banned on all systems. This means you can’t just transfer your account to another platform and start playing this cross-play game again. And they’re not afraid to ban hardware and IP to keep the most persistent cheaters out.
In addition to the EAC service, DICE relies on players to report suspected cheaters. You will receive follow-up notifications when the audit team receives your report on what action they end up taking. If a player thinks they have been unfairly banned, they can always appeal the decision through EA’s support.
In addition to reporting cheaters, Battlefield 2042 will allow you to report things like in-game harassment, offensive names, offensive chats (both by voice and text), and players taking steps to sabotage the game (presumably, this refers to cheating on yours. teammates in a match).
Of course, the simplest thing to do when dealing with annoying online gamers is to mute and chat with them or block them as needed.
Battlefield 2042 launches in full on November 19, but you can get your first taste of the Easy-Anti Cheat service during the next beta from October 6-9.
