2K Sports has revealed the first details on NBA 2K22, the latest chapter in the long series of basketball. The update provides information on changes made to the likes of MyCareer, as well as game updates and new features.

In a preview on the official 2K website, the developer confirmed that they have revamped several game mechanics so that they work better and are more realistic. This includes blocking and stealing, as well as the stroke play system.

Gameplay has generally been made more skill-based so that successful actions feel more rewarding for the player. To that end, 2K Sports is focusing on making games less random and giving the player more influence.

“It really changed the way we play. For me it’s much more fun, it’s much more engaging. It truly rewards veterans who have put the time and work into becoming good at the game, and at the same time we are still accessible [to newcomers]Gameplay Director Mike Wang said.

The studio also promises to evolve the MyTeam game mode, giving users even more control when it comes to building their own unique team. A new draft mode will also give players the opportunity to select basketball stars from a constantly updated pool.

Finally, the City social space has been updated on next-gen consoles so that the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S version feels more alive, with additional NPCs to add more depth.

NBA 2K22 will launch on September 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and Nintendo Switch.
