The highly anticipated Blizzard Diablo Immortal mobile game has been postponed until 2022. The game was due to launch on Android and iOS later this year, but fans will have to wait a little longer.
Speaking in a press release, Blizzard explained that the studio wanted to take the extra time to improve the gaming experience, following player feedback during closed alpha tests.
According to the press release, Diablo Immortal “is now slated for release in the first half of 2022, which will allow [the developer] to add substantial improvements to the entire game “and that this is the result of” feedback from the Closed Alpha test participants “.
Some of the refinements the developer plans to implement include making PvP encounters more accessible for all players and ensuring that endgame PvE content is engaging for repeat users. The team is also working on adding controller support for those who don’t like using touch controls.
Activision Blizzard is currently in turmoil after being sued by the state of California on sexual harassment charges. On Tuesday, Blizzard president J. Allen Brack announced he was leaving the company after 16 years to “pursue new opportunities.”
It is not known if the relapse of the cause is directly responsible for the delay of Diablo Immortal. However, Senior System Designer Jeff Hamilton recently took to Twitter to reveal that production on World of Warcraft had stopped.
“Activision’s response to this is currently taking a group of world-class developers and making them so mad and traumatized that they are unable to continue making a great game,” he wrote.
Over 2,000 current and former Blizzard employees have signed a petition condemning Blizzard’s “repugnant” response to the lawsuit.
