On Thursday, Capcom hosted the long-awaited Resident Evil Showcase, revealing a slew of news about the horror franchise.

Resident Evil Village

Most of the news was about Resident Evil Village, the latest lead entry in the series. The publisher has confirmed that the game will be released on May 7, 2021 and will also arrive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S.

In the meantime, PlayStation 5 players can try a short demo of the game right away. The demo shows a new character called The Maiden, who can be seen in the trailer below. A demo available for other platforms will be launched in the spring.

Re: Towards Resident Evil

Another major announcement was Re: Verse Resident Evil. The project was previously released to the public by the Humble Bundle Store. This led to speculation that the game was some sort of multiplayer mode that would be included in Resident Evil Village.

Apparently Capcom confirmed that this was the case. The multiplayer spin-off will be a competitive mode in which players can compete against each other. A variety of characters to choose from will apparently be available to users. Anyone who purchases Resident Evil Village will have access to Re: Verse for free, with the game still in beta testing at the moment.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness

The latest announcement came in the form of a reproduction of an old trailer Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. The CGI anime series will arrive on Netflix this year and will feature Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield in an entirely new story.
