Game

Just like every other game Treyarch has made, Black Ops Cold War is a fast-paced affair. The shooting is as close and fun as ever, with some expanded mechanics. Players can still modify all of their weapons with the Gunsmith, while there is a lot of customization. A small drawback is that the guns seem to have lost some of their weight. They just don’t seem to have the same punch they used to, which makes them feel less powerful.

Multiplayer has a large selection of game modes. These include the traditional game types that fans have come to expect from Call of Duty. However, there are also some new additions that, more often than not, are really worth it. VIP Escort and Dirty Bomb are two of the best new game modes, offering players new goals to compete on. It is certainly more varied than many other multiplayer titles.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for map selection. There doesn’t seem to be any instant classics like Nuketown or Firing Range in Black Ops Cold War. Hopefully that’s something Treyarch can solve with its free post-launch DLC.

This latest installment also brings zombies back to a lot of hype. Treyarch has attempted to add even more storyline and suspense to the zombie mode than ever. There are some new features, such as the ability to build equipment or call helicopters. These add to the grander feel of the mode. However, this does not mean that the proven mechanisms have completely disappeared. The zombies still come in rounds and you can still buy guns from the walls like before. Game mode fans will surely be impressed with how zombies work now.
