Disney Twisted Wonderland It is new gacha title that has just received an English version. It is based on many classic Disney characters, but adds its own twists. It is set in an arcane academy called Night Raven College and presents a new side to some of Disney’s biggest and most famous antagonists. In this article, we’ll look at Disney Twisted-Wonderland and share our first impressions of the game.

Meet some well-known faces within your class

From revision of Disney Twisted-Wonderland, the game begins by introducing players to the story you are summoned to College of the Night Crow from the magic mirror. The start might be a little slow, but the game gets you into action pretty quickly once the intro is done. Players must work with dysfunctional students throughout the game as they progress through the story and gameplay.

Female antagonists have been transformed into male characters in the game (carrying the Otome element at stake). The game features two separate types of game modes: turn-based strategy battles where characters use their skills to take on enemies and Twistune, rhythm games where players tap the music.

Enter a prestigious university in a twisted world and make friends with Disney characters

The game is clearly not for everyone and is a gacha-based title. Gamers who like gacha will probably like this one because it’s really like most gacha games out there but with a Disney theme. Disney characters don’t really have a big influence on the characters, but the game does have dorms inspired by certain stories like the Heartslabyul Dorm it hosts:

Twisted (characters) from Alice in WonderlandSavanaclaw dormitory (twisted from The Lion King), Octavinelle dormitory (twisted by The little Mermaid), Dormitory Scarabia (twisted from Aladdin), Dormitory Pomefiore (twisted by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs), Ignihyde Dorm (twisted from Hercules) and Diasomnia Dorm (twisted from Sleeping Beauty).

Players can choose any of the students from these dorms to take into battle. Speaking of battle, it’s turn-based and doesn’t really need a lot of interaction from players once they’ve chosen characters for an attack. Players face various monsters, enemies and students in their battles and keeping your characters, spells and all other elements up to date is really important to win battles.

Another factor that comes into play here is the relationships you have with other players. Having good chemistry with another character on your team will allow you to deal extra damage and the only way to know which characters are doing well together is to focus on the story. The game is very story-based, so it’s important not to skip segments with cutscenes.

Enjoy glitch-free yet gritty gameplay

The other game mode is rhythm-based and involves clicking on the screen at the right time to meet the rhythms. They are essentially minigames and can be quite challenging at times. The music was mostly in sync quite well. While Twistunes has a difficulty setting, the main battle mode gradually gets harder as the game progresses.

The game can get a little gritty, however, but compared to other gachas it’s not too hostile towards free-to-play players. Aside from that, there have been no major bugs or glitches and the gameplay is fine for what it should deliver.

The game features anime style graphics along with simple controls

The graphics are pretty decent although the art style changes between battle and the overall visual style of the game. It is not a scam and it really makes the battle more lighthearted with a 2D cartoon style. The audio also features nothing to be bothered with with good voice acting, and the newly released English version also has translated subtitles.

The controls are mostly click-and-drag, so nothing to complain about. The user interface is also pretty clean and standard with no issues.

Completely ad-free gameplay but possesses IAPs that facilitate advancement

The game has no commercials, which offers a seamless gaming experience and is a positive feature. However, it has IAP since it is a gacha title. Now, since there is no PvP, paying won’t really give you an edge over someone, but it can make it easier and less time-consuming to get new cards.

Final verdict

Overall, Disney Twisted-Wonderland is a pretty good adventure game with decent gameplay. It has a compelling story that contributes a lot to the game and a gacha system that isn’t too hostile to F2P players.

It’s a title worth playing for anyone who is keen on gachas with a narrative-driven Otome experience. The game doesn’t have too many downsides aside from the gameplay which isn’t as immersive as some might prefer.
