Neverwinter Nights 2 took a big leap into the RPG landscape in 2006. But the games have seen a ton of great RPGs since then, including a truly addicting MMORPG Neverwinter Nights.
You don’t need to take a perception test to guess the obvious question: is this classic game still worth playing? Or should you move on to something a little more modern?
History
As the name suggests, this game mainly takes place around a city called Neverwinter. It is part of the familiar world of Dungeons and Dragons Faerûn. And the 3 act adventure will give you a nice tour of the areas around the Sword Coast.
The texture is very vintage Bioware. You are an orphan whose city is attacked and you get involved in the search for a mysterious object. Before you know it, you and your party are the only thing that can stop the evil King of Shadows. Unless, of course, you decide to join forces!
Visual
It’s good to get the bad news out of the way first. So, in the spirit of tearing the patch off, here it is.
This game doesn’t look good.
In all fairness, it wasn’t the coolest game even in 2006. The character models are often pretty rough and the whole world aesthetic is a bit boring and uninspiring. However, fans of Dungeons and Dragons will be happy to see faithful reproductions of many familiar monsters.
As with most older games, there are some third-party mods to make it a little better. But out of the box, this is a game that really looks its age.
