Portal is considered by many to be one of the greatest puzzle games of all time, and for good reason. Valve’s exclusive game has become a classic since its debut in 2007, spawning hundreds of memorable memes, puzzles, and gameplay moments that non-gamers have likely heard of, too. The Companion Cube, “cake is a lie” and GLaDOS are all elements of the Portal saga that have been ingrained in players’ minds since Valve debuted in the game.

So it’s no surprise that a sequel was spawned to capitalize on the greatness of what came before. Portal 2 gives us more of everything that has come before, expertly expanded and optimized to build a fantastic following, with memorable characters, hilarious jokes and more mind-blowing puzzles that challenge us in every way.

Portal Review 2 | Gammick

History

Portal 2 picks up exactly where the original game left off, bringing back the silent protagonist Chell. It provides players with an avatar through which they will navigate the insane world of Portal 2. Chell returns to the nefarious laboratory of Aperture Science, just like the players did in the original game. But now there are others to meet here besides the evil AI GLaDOS computer.

This time, a robot named Wheatley (voiced by Stephen Merchant) meets you at the start of the game. He appears to be tasked with helping Chell escape the facility where she is forced to complete the experiments.

With Wheatley by your side, it’s a little easier to figure out the nefarious puzzles ahead of you. You have to solve the puzzles using your Portal Gun device. It’s the only weapon in the game, since it doesn’t actually “shoot” anyone. The Portal Gun only fires at portals, not bullets. You use the portals to move or the objects with which to solve the different phases.
