War Thunder is a relatively old free-to-play game. It has been available on PlayStation 4 and Steam since 2013 and arrived on Xbox One in 2018. It has gone through a long period of early access, but is now fully released. For this reason, War Thunder now has to stand on its own legs. Gaijin Entertainment can no longer hide behind the test period.

So, do I recommend War Thunder? Let’s analyze it.

At the moment, the game brings together aspects of all types of vehicular warfare. Unlike other vehicle warfare games like World of Tanks, War Thunder doesn’t just focus on the terrain. Instead, this is a game that wants to take you to battle across land, sea and air.

This means that all kinds of machines are at your disposal, even if your choices are limited in terms of time frame. Players can access tanks, planes and ships from historical eras, including World War II, the Spanish Civil War and the Cold War.

As is customary in these types of online battle games, War Thunder doesn’t focus on narrative. So, there’s no single-player story or campaign to contend with. Although the team behind the title has added various new forces and factions, these are all focused on multiplayer use. However, this isn’t really an issue as this game excels at letting players get right into the action.
