Fans have been waiting a long time for Ghostwire: Tokyo, the next game from Tango Gameworks studio. Unfortunately, the developers have confirmed that the title has been postponed to 2022.
In a statement, the developers wrote, “We have decided to delay the launch of Ghostwire: Tokyo in early 2022. We want to have the game in your hands as soon as possible so that you can experience the unforgettable version of haunted Tokyo. . that we have worked hard to build. At the same time, we also focus on protecting the health of everyone in Tango. “
The statement concludes: “Our new release window will give us time to bring the world of Ghostwire to life as we’ve always imagined it. Thank you for being patient as we work to bring you an experience unlike anything we’ve ever done. We look forward to showing you more in the coming months. “
Ghostwire: Tokyo will offer players the ability to use their otherworldly abilities to battle supernatural enemies. But former creative director of the game Ikumi Nakamura struggled with a much simpler enemy: burnout. As previously reported by Gamespot, Nakamura suffered from feelings of exhaustion and left the project in 2019.
“You can’t play games if you’re not in good health,” he said. “I started wondering if there wasn’t a way for me to play games and feel better. I made the decision to quit before it was too late. I was running away in a way. “
The change of creative direction didn’t seem to directly delay the game. Instead, Tango just seems dedicated to bringing us the best possible version of this title. Interestingly, Ghostwire: Tokyo will remain a timed exclusive on PC and PlayStation 5 despite Microsoft now owning Tango thanks to the acquisition of ZeniMax and Bethesda.
Timed exclusivity means we won’t have an Xbox version until 2023 at the earliest. But at least Microsoft gamers can expect to play a very refined version of this now delayed game.
