Through the magic of memes, the scene of the “steamed hams” of The Simpsons it’s more popular now than it was when it originally aired two decades ago. And now, that scene has been turned into a point and click video game!
The rogue game, called Steamed Hams: The Graphic Adventure, was created by NeoDement fans and made with Adventure Game Studio, according to GamesRadar.
Hence the infamous piece of “steamed hams”. The SimpsonsEpisode of the seventh season of 1996 “22 Shorts About Springfield”. Principal Skinner invites Superintendent Chalmers over to his house for lunch, but he burns the food. He ends up serving Chalmers food from Krusty Burger, which he tries to pass off as his kitchen. Memorably, he claims to call the burgers “steamed hams” when Chalmers points out that Skinner said they were eating “steamed clams” for lunch.
Appropriately enough, the fan game adaptation of this old man Simpson the scene is inspired by old video games. It sounds a lot like old point and click adventure titles like Maniac Mansion, so fans of retro games will be in for a treat. Dialogue is borrowed Simpson episodes as well as the popular Simpsons game: Hit and Run. Eagle-eyed gamers will likely recognize many of the game’s sprites as being modified by Simpsons Arcade Game.
