Resident Evil Re: Verse, a multiplayer shooter that was initially supposed to launch alongside Resident Evil: Village, has been postponed until summer 2021.
In a e-mail Sent to Resident Evil Ambassadors, publisher Capcom explained that the spin-off will not be released at the same time as its latest title. Resident Evil: Village will hit store shelves on May 7th.
Capcom has since confirmed the news on the game’s official website, which now claims it will be released in summer 2021.
The reason for the delay is unknown, but Capcom has been testing it over the past few months with a series of public and closed beta tests. The publisher prematurely terminated one of these events due to mass problems with matchmaking.
Resident Evil Re: Verse is a multiplayer deathmatch game for sixth players. Characters from the entire horror franchise will be included, with graphics given a comic-style look to help the figures stand out more than more traditional Resident Evil games.
