Apple’s Vision Pro headphones are finally available, after concluding the pre-order campaign. It is available in three storage versions: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The starting price is $3,499, while the 512GB and 1TB versions retail for $3,699 and $3,899, respectively. This does not include optical inserts for people who need prescription glasses, but more on that later.
Ordering Vision Pro headphones isn’t as simple as clicking the “buy” button. It’s an experience. The first step is to measure your head using your iPhone. Using the ToF Face ID scanner on your phone, you are asked to rotate your phone around your head to take accurate measurements and determine the size of the Light Seal and headbands. This is essential for a snug and comfortable fit while wearing the headphones.
The second step is to choose whether to use reading or prescription glasses during the day. The optical inserts are supplied by Zeiss and are available in two variants: for readers and prescription inserts. The former asks for $99 on top of the standard price while the prescription set will cost you another $149.
Apple said more than 600 apps are already available for the Vision Pro, including Arcade games. Third-party games that support VR headsets will also be playable, as long as they can run on Mac using the Virtual Display feature.
