A new report from Jeff Pu suggests Apple’s AR headphones will be further delayed and likely only launch early next year. It’s not really a huge delay as more recent rumors pointed to a release in late 2022, but it’s still not great.
Perhaps supply chain constraints and Apple’s unwillingness to release its first AR device in limited stock forced the company to postpone the date again. Initial expectations range from 1 to 1.5 million sales in the first year, which is quite an ambitious goal. So scarce stock from the start won’t do well for the company’s first headphones of this type.
While the AR and VR goggles are nothing new, Apple’s solution, which is expected to cost around $ 2,000, will be the first in the premium segment and that’s another reason not to release the device in limited quantities right from the start.
