That’s right, Asus has dropped the bombshell and announced a brand new gaming console under the Republic of Gamers branding: the ROG Ally. It’s a portable device running on Windows 11 and should compete with Steam Deck.

However, the Taiwanese company didn’t reveal many details and only released a couple of images, a teaser video and some specifications. Asus claims that the device is powered by a custom AMD APU chip, which can be paired with a ROG X6 Mobile eGPU. The display has a 1080p resolution, but we don’t know if it’s LCD or OLED and how fast it can refresh.

Given that the device runs on Windows 11, it’s probably safe to assume that all cloud-based gaming services will work, including Steam and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

The rest remains a mystery. In addition to the missing specs, we still need to know more about pricing and availability. You can sign up for pre-order notification only on Ally’s landing page (link to source below).
