We welcomed the base Google Pixel 9 and the flagship Pixel 9 Pro XL at the end of August; now the focus shifts to the smaller Pro and Google’s next-generation foldable.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold moves to a more traditional 20:9 aspect ratio for the cover display, up from the 17.4:9 of the original Pixel Fold. The internal display also grows significantly to a new 8-inch diagonal. There’s also the more power-efficient Tensor G4 chipset, but that pretty much covers this year’s major upgrades.
For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is slightly more expensive.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro isn’t here yet, it’s launching on September 16 (Monday). While it’s not the smallest flagship out there (both the Galaxy S24 and iPhone 15 Pro are smaller), it stands out with a 48MP 113mm periscope and 48MP ultra-wide camera, as well as a 42MP ultra-wide selfie camera.

Extra credit of €200 when you trade
The Samsung Galaxy S24 is significantly cheaper than the Pixel and will have the same 7 years of support (so does the Z Fold6). However, the S24 has half the RAM, a smaller 4,000mAh battery, and less impressive cameras: 10MP 3x telephoto and 12MP ultrawide.
Note that the Pixel 9 Pro comes with a free storage upgrade. Additionally, Amazon offers extra credit as a bonus when you trade in an older device.
This also applies to the Google Pixel 9 and 9 Pro XL, both of which come with a free storage upgrade and a trade-in bonus.
The Google Pixel Watch 3 will start shipping on Tuesday. This generation comes in a 41mm size like the first two, but you can now also opt for a larger 45mm model: in addition to increasing the screen size from 1.2″ to 1.4″, you also get a larger 420mAh battery (up from 307mAh).
Finally, the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 deserve a mention: the new Tensor A1 chipset promises double the noise cancellation of the original Pros. However, these won’t launch until later this month, so we’ll have to review them.
