A couple of days ago a Google Pixel 7 prototype made the rounds of eBay and Facebook Marketplace, live images and everything in between, and it didn’t take long for the big brother to undergo similar treatment. This time around, there is no one trying to sell a prototype, but its live images have leaked even so.
The Pixel 7 Pro has an additional camera to the Pixel 7, but otherwise the design looks very similar on the back, with the new metal camera visor wrapping around the frame on both sides. It’s similar enough to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro’s visor to be instantly recognizable as a Google phone, but if you pay attention you’ll notice the subtle changes in the design. On the front the Pixel 7 Pro appears to have a similar curved screen to its predecessor, which may in fact be the exact same panel.

We’re not entirely sure what’s going on with the device information listing the name as Cubot Cheetah 2. Cheetah is allegedly the codename for the upcoming Pixel 7 Pro, sure, but Cubot is a full-fledged Chinese phone maker. Maybe it has something to do with the production of this Pixel? There was a Cubot Cheetah 2 smartphone many, many years ago, but that’s definitely not it: the bezels betray it.
Anyway, this is probably a mystery for another day. The alleged Pixel 7 Pro prototype has the same logo on the back of the Pixel 7 prototype that went on sale earlier this week, and that’s standard practice for Google – a different logo tries to obfuscate which device it actually is. . Then again, it’s pretty tough in reality when that camera visor is such a unique design feature nowadays.
Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro should only go official in the fall (probably around October), and with this rate of leaks we’re pretty sure we’ll get to know them well sooner.
