Last month Google announced the rollout of Android 14 Beta 4 and hinted that we should expect the final stable release on the way. He even posted this image from the release period yet again:
This exact image was basically released by Google every single month with every single new beta release with no changes. Until today, that is, when we received a surprise Beta 5 for Android 14 instead of the final version.
To add insult to injury, Google is pretending not to implicate what it did last month. Not only that, but the timeline image has also changed, and now it looks like this:
Have you noticed the very amateur Photoshop work? The dark blue line is jagged right before the newly introduced “Aug” slot, as if someone hastily added that section to it.
We don’t understand why the search giant can’t just admit to the fact that it’s apparently taking longer to fully bake Android 14 than it had anticipated. We’re sure no one would mind hearing that. But pretend it didn’t imply what he did? Hastily (and badly) altering the images to go with it? We’re not sure what’s going on.
Anyway, Android 14 Beta 5 has a bunch of bug fixes. Dozens, in fact, so we won’t list them all here. If you are interested, you can find them all at the Source linked below.
As before, if your eligible Pixel device (aka Pixel 4a 5G or later) is enrolled in the Android Beta program, you’ll receive this update over the air. If not, you can register your device by going here. Once you do, you will receive the new Beta 5 as an update over the air.
In case you’re now wondering when to expect the final release to actually drop, your guess is as good as ours. Maybe within this month? In the month of September? We’ll have to wait and see.
