Amazon has an offer on the top-end Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 – the version with 1TB of storage is discounted by £300, which brings it down to the same price as the 256GB model. Plus, there’s a £300 voucher for a total discount of £600.
With the arrival of the Google Pixel Fold, OnePlus Open, and the like, the Z Fold5 is no longer the only landscape foldable, however both cost more than Samsung foldables right now, even configurations with less storage.
The Xiaomi 13T Pro is just below the flagship: It has a fast Dimensity 9200+ chipset, a high-quality 6.67″ 144 Hz display with 12-bit colors and 1,220 x 2,712 px resolution and also a 50 MP main camera with a large sensor (1/ 1.28″), 50 MP camera with 2x zoom and 12 MP ultra wide angle. The battery has a capacity of 5,000 mAh and supports 120 mAh super fast charging W. It’s not quite a Xiaomi 14 but it’s close and the 14 isn’t available in the UK anyway.
Last week we put the Motorola Edge 40 on sale for £300 – it still costs that much and is still a great mid-range device. However, the Motorola Edge 40 Neo is available for £250. It’s a very similar phone with a 6.55-inch 144Hz P-OLED display and a 50+13MP camera, although this one has a weaker chipset ( Dimensity 7030 versus Dimensity 8020). It also has a larger battery (5,000 mAh versus 4,400 mAh), but the less efficient hardware drains it more quickly. The Neo also doesn’t have wireless charging – it has the same 68W wired charging as the regular Edge 40.
We recommend the Edge 40 over the Neo. That said, if you’re looking to save money, check out the Moto G84. It has a 6.5″ P-OLED at 120 Hz with FHD+ resolution and a very similar camera configuration (50+8 MP instead of 50+13 MP). It uses a slower chipset (Snapdragon 695) and the 5,000mAh battery only does 30W charging. However, battery life is much better on this one.
Like the Z Fold5, the Samsung Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic won’t be replaced until the second half of this year. The watches feature ECG and blood pressure monitoring among other health monitoring features. And the Classic has its signature trick, the rotating bezel.
Some other Samsung offers. The Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro are currently Samsung’s best TWS earbuds. They’re very comfortable, last a long time before you need to charge them, and have good ANC (with Voice Detect, which will automatically turn off the ANC when you start talking).
The other is the redesigned Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2. This has both Bluetooth and UWB (you need a compatible phone like the Z Fold5 or S23+/S23 Ultra). There’s also an NFC tag, which can store your contact information in case someone finds it and needs to call you to get your stuff back.
Nowadays many laptops can use USB-C to charge, it’s not just phones and tablets. And for more powerful laptops, you may need a 140W charger or a power bank capable of producing 140W, which this Anker is capable of. It has two USB-C ports and one USB-A. With just one USB-C in use it can charge a 16″ MacBook Pro to 50% in 40 minutes. If two USB-C ports are used, the 140W are shared.
The Meta Quest 3 is a fun and potentially useful VR headset with major upgrades over the Quest 2. However, the Quest 3 costs almost twice as much, so here’s the older version at £250 (with 128GB of storage).
