Huawei held a big launch event yesterday where we saw the international debut of the MatePad Pro 13.2 and FreeClip open-ear wireless earphones. These weren’t the only new devices announced on stage, as we also received the MatePad Air PaperMatte edition and the MateBook D 16 2024 Windows laptop.
MatePad Air PaperMatte
MatePad Air PaperMatte is a revised version of the MatePad Air with an anti-glare matte screen and improved M-Pencil 2 support. The HarmonyOS tablet features an 11.5-inch IPS LCD with 1840 x 2800 px resolution, 144 Hz refresh rate, and 3:2 aspect ratio. It also features the Snapdragon 888 4G chipset, up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, as well as an 8,300mAh battery with 40W wired charging.

The price of Huawei MatePad Air PaperMatte Edition is equal to €649 and comes with a bundled keyboard case.
MateBook D16 2024
The MateBook D 16 2024 was announced in China last month and offers a 16-inch IPS LCD with 1920×1200 px resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio and up to 300 nits peak brightness. Huawei features a full-sized keyboard with a dedicated numeric keypad, five-point touchpad, dual speakers, and dual microphones.

The base model comes with a 13th generation Intel Core i5 processor and Intel UHD graphics while the high-end models get i7 and i9 processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics. All models come with 16GB LPDDR4X RAM and 1TB M.2 SSD of the 2280 variety.
The MateBook D16 will launch in the UK and Europe and will be offered in several configurations ranging from €999 for the 13th generation Intel Core i5 model with 16 GB of RAM and 521 GB of storage €1,399 for the Core i9 version with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Pre-orders begin on January 8th while open sales begin on January 22nd.
