After iOS 16.1 launched last month, Apple began testing iOS 16.2, with both developers and the public subscribed to its beta program. Today the company confirmed The Indian Express that next week’s iOS 16.2 beta will finally include 5G iPhone support in India, on Airtel and Jio.
This comes after much pressure from the Indian government, following the launch of 5G services in the country on October 1st. Apple had previously stated that the final version of iOS 16.2 would be released on all supported devices in December.
Meanwhile, if you want to test 5G functionality in India, you can visit the beta program website and register your device. You will then receive the current beta and next week you should get the new build that enables high speed connections.
That said, be aware that these beta builds may contain bugs and things that just don’t work, so if you’re sensitive to this it’s best to just wait for the stable release that will happen next month, after all the problems have been ironed out.
