Huawei is expected to introduce the P70, P70 Pro and P70 Pro Art flagships in 2024, reveals Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst at TF International Securities. According to him, the launch will take place in the first half of the year and the demand for these phones will be so high that Huawei will probably sell three times more units than the managed P60 range.
Huawei P60Pro
The analyst said Huawei is expected to see robust annual growth of around 230%, up to 15 million units of the flagship P70 series, compared to 4-5 million Huawei P60 devices. While demand will not be as high as expected after the launch, the company is expected to sell at least 10-12 million units.
The increase will also boost Largan and Sunny Optical, high-end lens makers and suppliers to Huawei. They are expected to see “significant growth in shipments” during the off-season, as the Chinese manufacturer aims to return to market shelves around the world with better-than-ever camera specs.
Huawei P50 Pro vs P40 Pro
The Huawei P70 is said to carry a 5P lens and a 1/3.6″ telephoto lens, while the P70 Pro duo will have a 6P zoom lens with a 1/2.5″ sensor at the back.
The Art version will surpass these two as Huawei plans to use a 1G6P lens (one glass and six layers of plastic) and a 1″ sensor for the ultra-wide-angle camera. It will be extremely expensive to produce, as patterned glass is more difficult to make compared to a regular 7P lens, and this is where Largan and Sunny Optical will get a lot of money.
Huawei P40 Pro and P40 Pro+
Huawei introducing a new camera to the global market will likely cause other manufacturers to follow with similar solutions, especially if the Huawei P70 series is welcomed onto the global stage. The phones will also feature new Kirin chipsets with 5G connectivity, which has been one of the main issues why Huawei flagships have failed to take off over the past three years.
