Owning games on a physical format, be it a disc or cartridge, is becoming unfashionable (at least the console makers would like you to believe that). Owning games could even go the way of the floppy disk as subscriptions are becoming more common.

The latest is Meta Quest+, a service aimed at owners of Meta Quest 2, the upcoming Quest 3, and the expensive Quest Pro (sorry, original Quest owners). Long story short, this is similar to PlayStation Plus.

Quest+ costs $8 a month, or $60 if you pay for the full year (that’s $5 a month). Note that if you sign up before the end of July, the first month will only cost $1.

Each month, Meta will hand-pick two games — you can play those games as long as you’re a Quest+ subscriber. This means that if you cancel your subscription, you will lose access to the games. But if you cancel and (later) subscribe again, Meta will restore access to all the games you had previously.

Meta also revealed the two games that will hit the service in August, Minigolf walka game of mini golf and Mother Weapon: Forgea fast-paced FPS VR roguelite where players build powerful handheld weapons.

PlayStation Plus subscribers also get discounts on game purchases, at least for now that’s not part of Quest+.
