Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard appears to be paying off, as the latest financial report now shows that gaming revenues ($7.11 billion) have surpassed Windows ($5.26 billion) as the company’s third revenue stream. Microsoft reported revenues of $62 billion for the quarter ended December 31, 2023 (+18%) and net income of $21.9 billion (+33%).
Productivity and business, which include Microsoft Office, Office 365, LinkedIn and Dynamics 365, were valued at $19.2 billion, while cloud services contributed $25.9 billion as Microsoft’s top two earners.
Microsoft’s fiscal 2024 Q2 financial performance
The More Personal Computing category that includes Windows, OEM Windows devices, and Xbox content and services generated $16.9 billion in revenue, with revenue from Xbox content and services contributing to a 61 percentage point increase in revenue, of which 55 were attributed to the acquisition of Activision. Microsoft says the acquisition has a net positive impact of $2 billion in revenue.
