Motorola has quietly introduced the Moto E14, a budget Android Go edition device that arrives as an update to last year’s Moto E13. It’s a simple device with a modest price tag of £70.
The phone still uses the Unisoc T606 chipset, but with only 2GB of RAM it is limited to running Android 14 Go Edition. Interestingly, Motorola has upgraded the 64GB of onboard storage from eMMC on the E13 to UFS 2.2. That’s faster than some recent entries in this segment. There’s a microSD slot, so capacity isn’t an issue.
Anyway, there are more updates. The display features a 6.56-inch IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution, however it now also boasts a 90Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The entire phone has an IP52 rating (water-repellent design).
The Moto E14’s battery has the same 5,000 mAh capacity and now supports 15W charging. That doesn’t sound like much, but it’s a 50 percent increase over last year’s model. The downside is that the phone comes bundled with a 10W charger (why include such a charger?).
Unfortunately, the camera remains the same: a single 13 MP module on the back with 1080p @ 30 fps video recording. The selfie camera has a 5 MP module that also shoots videos at 1080p @ 30 fps. The selfie camera is now inside a punch-hole instead of a notch, which we imagine counts as an upgrade.
The E14 features a 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as a single speaker with Dolby Atmos. This is a 4G phone with dual-SIM slot, Wi-Fi 5 (ac) and Bluetooth 5.0 (no NFC).
Moto E14 in the colours: Pastel Green • Pastel Purple • Graphite Grey
The Motorola Moto E14 currently appears on the UK and “Rest of Europe” subsites of motorola.com. It’s also available through select retailers like Amazon UK (which lists August 1st as the release date). There is only one memory configuration available, 2/64 GB, and three color options: pastel green, pastel purple and graphite grey.
