Last week Nothing rolled out the stable Android 14 update for its Phone (2), and this week the spotlight shifts to the Phone (1), the company’s first-ever smartphone, released last year.
An open beta of Android 14 is now available for all Phone (1) owners who are adventurous enough to run beta software on their devices. As with the Phone (2) update, the Phone (1) update is also labeled Nothing OS 2.5. As the name suggests, this is the most significant update since the launch of Nothing OS 2.0, which came out alongside the Phone (2) earlier this year.
There are tons of new features packed inside: a redesigned personalization page for both the lock screen and home screen, the ability to turn your background photo into a dynamic wallpaper, new solid-color wallpapers, a new theme in monochrome color, customizable double-press power button gesture. , more lock screen shortcut options, a faster way to take screenshots along with a new screenshot editor, new widgets, a new glyph animation for when NFC is used, a new back gesture arrow design, a new layout of Quick Settings and, above all for some: the ability to set the ringtone and notification volume separately!
There are also improvements to camera stability, as well as “better overall system stability for a more reliable and smooth experience,” the company boasts.
