The OnePlus Nord 4 has brought back metal back construction, something that has been missing from the smartphone world for a few years. This certainly makes it stand out in a sea of devices with glass and plastic backs, but it also apparently makes it stand out in a different way: its terrible repairability.
This is the conclusion we can draw after watching the disassembly video below, which highlights how difficult it is to repair the Nord 4. Due to the metal back, it is very difficult to get into the phone. Even going through the glass part at the top causes damage to the case.
Removing the metal is the trickiest part of any repair. After that, things get easier. Ultimately, the Nord 4 gets a repairability score of 4 out of 10, with 10 being the most repairable and 0 being the least repairable.
OnePlus Nord 4
The screen is the most difficult to replace, receiving a score of 0.5/2, identical to the score for design and internal organization. Availability of components, ease of battery replacement, and ease of replacing other miscellaneous components all get a score of 1/2, and thus we reached 4 out of a possible maximum of 10.
