The Galaxy Z Flip5 is Samsung’s latest clamshell foldable and offers two key upgrades over its predecessor: a seamless foldable design and a larger 3.4-inch coverage screen. The new cover screen is much more useful than previous versions: you can launch most of your apps and widgets without opening the main one, and it’s also a much better viewfinder for your selfies and videos.
The design of the Z Flip5 is virtually identical to the Z Flip4, except for the new Flex hinge mechanism that allows the newer model to fold flat with no gaps in between. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset for Galaxy is also new on the Z Flip5 which offers flagship performance although we did notice severe throttling during CPU and GPU benchmark tests.
The cameras have been carried over from last year and still deliver good results in both day and night shots. Battery life is slightly better than last year with an endurance rating of 87 hours in our proprietary test.
