The Poco F5 series will launch globally on May 9, but today the lineup appeared on the company’s website in the UAE. The Poco F5 and Poco F5 Pro are up to date with all their specs and images, and we’re just missing the prices, which will likely be presented at tomorrow’s global event.
Little F5 Pro
This smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and three memory combinations. It might look familiar, and that’s because it’s essentially the Redmi K60, introduced in China by Xiaomi but with Google services and reduced battery capacity, effectively making it a new device.
The screen is 6.67-inch AMOLED with WQHD+ resolution, or 3200 x 1440 pixels with 526 ppi, the highest density ever for a Poco smartphone. The panel also supports a 120Hz refresh rate and a 480Hz touch sampling rate, has a fingerprint scanner underneath and Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top.
The trio of cameras on the back is the main 64MP with Omnivision OV64B sensor, f/1.8 aperture and 8MP 6P + ultra wide angle lens with 120 degree field of view and a 2MP macro camera, positioned behind the small square glass. The camera setup supports OIS+EIS, a feature not widely available on Poco devices and one that makes the F5 Pro slightly more appealing to camera enthusiasts.
The selfie shooter is 16MP, sits behind a punch hole in the center, and is limited to 1080p video recording.
Little is very proud of the 5000 sq mm. LiquidCool VC which is a mix of stainless steel vapor chambers and there are also layers of graphite to improve thermal conductivity by up to 15%, compared to previous Poco F smartphones.
The Poco F5 Pro’s battery is listed as 5,160mAh, which is lower than the Redmi K60’s 5,500mAh cell, despite retaining 67W fast wired charging and 30W wireless charging. The operating system is Android 13 with MIUI 14 on top.
The Poco F5 Pro will be available in the UAE in black or white with carbon-like design elements. Storage options are 8/256GB, 12/256GB or 12/512GB. We have to wait until tomorrow’s event to see if other markets will have more colors and memory options.
Little F5
Here we also have a Qualcomm chipset, but this time it’s the mid-range Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 which has a 2.9 GHz CPU. Storage is 256 GB, while RAM is 8 GB or 12 GB, both expandable via software functionality.
The Poco F5’s screen is still a 6.67-inch AMOLED, borrowing all the fancy refresh rates and features, although resolution here is limited to 1080p. The camera combo is again 64MP + 8MP + 2MP, but the website says nothing about an Omnivision sensor, suggesting the primary camera is downgraded slightly from the Pro. ‘EIS. The selfie camera is once again 16 MP with an f/2.45 aperture behind a hole.
This device is all about lightweight design and Poco is really proud of how light and thin the F5 is – just 181 grams with a 7.9mm profile. The Poco F5’s battery is 5,000mAh and features 67W fast charging. Other features include Android 13 with MIUI 14 on top, NFC, IR blaster, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.3.
If all these specs look familiar, it’s because independent brand Poco is relaunching the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Turbo with a new name.
Poco F5 in black, blue, white
The Emirates website has the phone in three colors: black, blue and white, the hero color with “two-color gradient offset printing” to mimic the icy design.
