Redmi organized a big event today that started with the presentation of the Redmi K70 and Redmi K70 Pro smartphones. Both have a new 50 MP main camera, fast charging and flagship chipset.
Redmi K70
Xiaomi has equipped this phone with a 6.67-inch OLED with 1440p resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. The 12-bit can display 68.7 billion colors and reach a peak brightness of up to 4,000 nits, the highest of the sector as stated by the company. Xiaomi has also developed an AI algorithm for upscaling selected games and apps.
The Redmi K70 runs on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Qualcomm’s main platform for 2022. It’s paired with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and between 256GB and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.
The 50MP main camera on the back features a new 1/1.55” sensor with f/1.6 front aperture and OIS. There’s also an 8MP ultrawide shooter and a 2MP depth sensor.
The front camera has a 16MP sensor, and while Redmi hasn’t mentioned any specs, we’re likely looking at the same 1/3.06″ sensor with an f/2.5 lens as the Redmi K60 series.
Redmi K70 is powered by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 120W charging allowing it to fully charge in just 18 minutes. The phone features a standalone P2 charging chip and a G1 battery management chip to improve battery life and overall power management.
The device also features a cooling area of 5,000 square mm, including a VC, which is 10% larger than that of its predecessors.
Redmi K70, being part of the Xiaomi universe, comes with Android 14-based HyperOS out of the box. It has NFC, Bluetooth 5.3 and a dual nano-SIM slot but lacks a microSD slot and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The Redmi K70 will go on sale on December 1 at 10am in China. Color options are white, black, moonstone blue, and purple. Prices start at CNY 2,499 ($350/€320) for the 12/256 GB variant and reach CNY 3,399 ($480/€435) for the more powerful 16 GB/1 TB version.
Redmi K70Pro
The Redmi K70 Pro is built around the same 6.67-inch 1440p OLED display, developed in collaboration with TCL.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset is one of the key upgrades over the vanilla K70.
The Pro’s main camera matches the 50MP sensor with OIS from the Redmi K70. The Pro ups the ante with a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and a more powerful 12MP ultrawide lens. The selfie camera once again has a 16MP sensor.
The 5,000 mAh battery has 120W charging with the same promise of a full charge in 18 minutes.
Redmi K70 Pro is available in three colors: black, white and blue. Prices are CNY 3,299 ($465/€420) for 12/256 GB, CNY 3,599 ($505/€460) for 16/256 GB, CNY 3,899 ($550/€500) for 16/512 GB and CNY 4,399 ($620/€565) for 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
