At the end of its big Unpacked event that took place a few hours ago, Samsung teased the next big thing: the Galaxy Ring. Yes, it’s a smart ring and it looks just like the smart ring from the teaser. See for yourself:
The Galaxy Ring will bring Samsung’s “cutting-edge” healthcare innovations in an entirely new form factor. It will be a “powerful and accessible health and wellness device, here to change the shape of future health as only Samsung can.” This is the quote from the stage, make of it what you will.
The ring is circular and black, at least in the iteration shown in the teaser. Speaking of teasers, did you notice the not-so-subtly hidden Galaxy Ring teaser that was placed in Samsung’s official promotional video on Samsung Health? We’ve already talked about this in our post reviewing all the official videos, but here it is again: Make sure you pay attention to the 2:10 mark.
What could it be? What could that shape represent? Oh, wait, that’s pretty obvious, right? The Galaxy Ring has been doing the rumor mill for quite some time now, and at one point it was rumored to be the star of today’s show. That didn’t happen, and it’s now expected to be revealed later this year – perhaps it could launch alongside the next-generation foldables in July? We’ll have to wait and see.
Of course, since this is a smart wearable, expect it to at least track a number of health parameters and provide vibrations for notifications. Since it has no screen, battery life should be better than that of a smartwatch.
