Tecno is becoming more and more popular with fans of cheap but capable phones. And with good reason. The manufacturer’s recent efforts have been offered hardware well above its price range.

The Tecno Camon 19 is the latest in this line of devices. We got the Sea Salt White, which has an iridescent finish that is beautiful in any light. There is also an even cuter Digital Green model out there.

The Tecno Camon 19 comes in a package with an 18W charger, a USB cable and a carrying case (found on the phone in the image below).

Specs-wise, the Tecno Camon 19 sounds solid, although you obviously can’t expect wonders in this price range. It has a 6.8-inch IPS LCD with 1080p resolution. It’s a good-looking panel, but it’s a bit let down by its standard refresh rate (the Tecno Camon 19 Pro has the same panel, only 120Hz).

The battery is a generous 5,000mAh unit. Whichever model you choose, you get 128GB of built-in storage. The main camera is a 64MP 1 / 1.7 “f / 1.7 unit, which should be more than adequate in all lighting conditions.

The chipset is the MediaTek Helio G85, a 12nm chip with two Cortex-A75 cores running at 2.0GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at up to 1.8GHz. There is either 4GB or 6GB of RAM.

The problem with any Tecno smartphone is availability. It is difficult to find these phones outside the developing markets. One such market is Kenya, where it is priced at € 190 equivalent, which is a bargain for hardware.
