With the announcement of Apple’s iPhone 14 range last month, it also announced the second generation of AirPods Pro 2. Apple mentioned the new model’s improvements to sound quality, updates to noise cancellation and passthrough sound, and an increase in the expected battery life of the AirPods Pro. Thanks to a 3C certification, we now know exactly how much extra battery capacity you’ll find.

The 3C certification reveals the battery capacity of Apple AirPods Pro 2

There is a 15% increase in the capacity of individual AirPods. Each now has a 49.7mAh battery compared to the first generation’s 43.24mAh. The charging case itself hasn’t seen a huge increase in capacity. In addition to now supporting MagSafe magnetic charging, the battery has seen a slight increase from 4mAh to 523mAh in the case.

The second-generation AirPods Pro offer an extra 1.5 hours of battery life (6 hours) using activated noise cancellation, compared to 4.5 hours in the first generation on a single charge. Along with the charging case, the new AirPods Pro is advertised to last 30 hours in total with noise cancellation turned on. Along with the larger batteries in the Pods, the H2 chip and skin detection sensors help in the battery efficiency of the new model.
