Google recently announced that Android 16 will arrive earlier than its predecessor, with the launch expected within the second quarter of next year, therefore between April and June.
Today a new rumor claims to give us the exact release date: June 3rd. This is not only the day the Android Open Source Project code will be released, but apparently it’s also the day the update will be rolled out over the air. Android 16 will start for Google’s Pixels, unlike what happened this year when more than a month passed between the AOSP release and the start of the actual OTA updates.
As Google has already mentioned, the main reason for releasing earlier in the year is to ensure that more smartphones can be launched with it on board. This obviously includes the Pixel 10 family, which, if 2024 history repeats itself, will be revealed in August, but will also likely include Samsung’s next foldables, which are scheduled to launch in July.
