Threads launched on July 5 as a text-based extension of Instagram and the latest report is of 100 million people signed up in the first five days. Meta’s platform is clearly an attempt to lure users from Twitter to its ecosystem, but it still lacks important features, such as history feed, robust search, and most importantly, you can’t delete their profile without also losing posts from. Instagram.
The report comes from Quiver Quantitative, where the data is collected semi-manually. The number of users who sign up to see what the fuss is about is increasing by the hour, but no algorithm can keep track of how many people are leaving the platform. Currently, one’s feed is full of influencers, brands, and celebrities, and people may miss what their friends and family post.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter, replied “Zuck is a cuck” under a tweet about Mark Zuckerberg’s presence on Threads. Apart from the billionaire’s questionable choice of words, he makes it clear that Twitter is closely following the development of its competitor.

According to legal documents, the new platform is infringing on Twitter’s trade secrets and intellectual property, but a Meta representative refuted the claims, saying no people working on the Threads project had previously worked for Twitter.
