TSMC conducted a successful test chip production of its 2nm N2 process with a yield rate of 60%. A new report backed by supply chain insiders says TSMC achieved better-than-expected results with trial production at its Baoshan plant in Hsinchu County, Taiwan.
After a successful test production run, TSMC will begin mass production of its 2nm chips at its factory in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, next year. Apple and Nvidia are expected to be among the first companies to purchase chips made on TSMC’s N2 node.
Previous reports suggest that the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro models will feature 2nm chips developed under TSMC’s process, but the latest news claims that we will see the 2nm chip debut in the iPhone 18 Pro in 2026.
According to rumors, chips made on TSMC’s 2nm process will likely cost twice as much as 4nm and 5nm chips, with a price rumored to be as high as $30,000 per wafer.
