Xiaomi announced its high-end foldable earlier this week, the Mix Fold 3, and it’s definitely shaping up to be one of the best foldables for 2023.
Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Fold5, the Mix Fold 3 offers a substantial hardware upgrade over its predecessor. It didn’t exactly match the Honor Magic V2 for the slimmest foldable on the market, but at 10.9mm when folded (5.3mm unfolded) the Xiaomi flagship still shaves 0.3mm compared to its predecessor despite having a 4,800mAh 4,500mAh battery on the Mix Fold 2. Xiaomi has even found room for wireless charging coils, as the phone now supports 50W fast wireless charging.
Probably the most impressive part of the Mix Fold 3 is the camera setup, which is the only one on the horizontal fold with four cameras. You get a 10MP shooter with 3.2x optical zoom and a longer 5x telephoto with 10MP sensor. Add to that a 50MP large sensor main camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera.
Xiaomi has redesigned the hinge, made up of 198 components that take up up to 17% less internal space. The hinge also supports angles between 45° and 135°.
Unfortunately, like its predecessors, the Mix Fold 3 is limited to the Chinese market, which will inevitably limit its impact: a missed opportunity or a reasonable decision for a device with limited appeal? Cast your votes now!.
