Oppo may want to reconsider its twice-a-year release strategy for the Reno series as the products are becoming overcrowded. Are the Reno13 models better than their Reno12 counterparts? In some ways yes, in others no.
The end result is that most of the people who voted in last week’s poll are looking at others in the middle range. Anyway, when did Renos become mid-range? The Reno11 Pro (in China) had a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, the Reno12 Pro (China) had a Dimensity 9200+, and now the Reno13 Pro only has a Dimensity 8350.
The Oppo Reno13 Pro in its configuration for the Chinese market has some potential, especially if reviewed well. As you’ll see in the next table, the Pro is the preferred model of the two, despite having the same chipset as the vanilla model.
The vanilla Oppo Reno13 faces a tougher battle. Again, these are the models for China – we haven’t seen the global hardware yet. Usually, global hardware is a downgrade from the Chinese model, so things may look even more dire for the Reno13 series.
Oppo has not yet offered any updates on the global launch. The Reno12 series was launched in May 2024 in China and global variants followed in June. So, late December or early January are the likely targets for the global Rhine13.
