Six months after the 90 series, the Honor 100 and 100 Pro arrive with new cameras, better chipsets, and faster charging, among other improvements. The duo was unveiled on Thursday and is already available for pre-order in China (the rest of the world will have to wait a little longer).

Starting with the Honor 100 Pro, the company claims to have two DSLR-level cameras: the 50MP Sony IMX906 on the back and the 50MP IMX816 on the front. Both can record 4K video, the rear module also includes OIS. And yes, the 200MP resolution of the 90 series has been ditched in favor of larger pixels.

The Pro model has a 32MP 2.5x telephoto lens with OIS and up to 50x digital zoom. Added to this is a 112° ultra wide module. You may have noticed that there is a second module at the front, which is there to help make bokeh more realistic and to apply effects that need extra depth data.

The 100 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (up from the 90 Pro’s 8+ Gen 1) and a 5,000 mAh battery with 100W fast charging. This model now also features 66W fast wireless charging, which can reach 100% in 42 minutes. The Pro has a slightly larger 6.78-inch 120Hz OLED display, a curved panel with 1,224 x 2,700 px resolution and 10-bit color. It reaches up to 2,600 nits of brightness and has high-frequency PWM dimming at 3,840 Hz.

Weekly survey: who is interested in the new Honor 100 and Honor 100 Pro?

The vanilla Honor 100 gets the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and loses the camera compared to its brother (the IMX906 main camera and the ultra-wide camera are the same). At the front is a 6.7-inch 120Hz (1,200 x 2,664 px) display, also a 10-bit curved panel. The brightness of 2,600 nits is the same and is also implemented with the high-frequency dimming of 3,840 Hz. The 5,000 mAh battery only receives 100W wired charging, which is fast enough to reach 100% in 32 minutes.

As mentioned, the two phones are already up for pre-order. The Honor 100 Pro starts at CNY 3,400 for the 12/256 GB model, the Honor 100 at CNY 2,500 for the same 12/256 GB configuration. However, we don’t know how much these two will cost on the global market.

The Honor 90 was priced the same at launch, CNY 2,500, while the 90 Pro started at a slightly lower price of CNY 3,300 (this is for 12/256GB phones). When it arrived in Europe, the Honor 90 lowered the RAM capacity to 8GB and was priced at €550. The Pro, however, never reached the Old Continent.

So the Honor 100 should cost the same as the 90, the 100 Pro could remain a pipe dream. Would you buy the Honor 100 once it becomes available near you?

How about Honor 100 Pro: The company might change its mind and give this a wide release. If it does, will you get one?
