Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun gave his annual speech earlier where he announced the company’s second foldable phone: the Mix Fold 2. Xiaomi has yet to comment on its availability outside of China, but the Mix Fold 2 it looks really impressive.
Mix Fold 2 is one of the thinnest foldable phones to date measuring just 5.4mm open and 11.2mm in the closed state, including the camera bump. For context, the Galaxy Z Fold4 is open 6.3mm and folded 15.8.

Mix Fold 2 weighs 262 grams and features a refined hinge developed by Xiaomi that combines alloy plates and carbon fiber along with a recessed central structure and compact layered design.
There’s an early 6.56-inch AMOLED coverage screen with a 21: 9 aspect ratio that’s closer to what you’d find on a regular smartphone and that means typing should feel less cramped. It still refreshes at 120Hz and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. Xiaomi also added a 20MP selfie camera housed in a hole.
The main 8-inch LTPO2 OLED features a resolution of 1914 x 2160 px and a variable refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. It is an Eco2 OLED display that removes the polarizer layer and for better display transparency while also offering power consumption inferior. The main display is HDR10 + and Dolby Vision certified and features Schott UTG glass for extra durability. Peak brightness is rated at 1,300 nits.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset is at the helm paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.
Mix Fold 2 is the second phone to benefit from Xiaomi’s partnership with Leica and gets a 50MP Sony IMX766 main sensor with OIS and Leica optics. Like the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, the Mix Fold 2 gets Leica Authentic and Vibrant photo styles as well as a handful of Leica filters. The rear also houses a 13MP ultrawide camera and an 8MP telephoto module with 2x optical zoom.
Mix Fold 2 packs a 4,500mAh battery with 67W fast wired charging and launches MIUI Fold 13 on Android 12.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is available in gold and black colors. Pricing starts at CNY 8,999 ($ 1,340) for the 12/256 GB model and goes up to CNY 11,999 ($ 1,780) for 12 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Pre-orders in China are already active while official sales begin on August 16. Xiaomi hasn’t shared any details on global availability at this point.
