The end of our long wait is in sight. Stranger things Season 4 will finally be released in 2022. The announcement comes courtesy of a new teaser trailer that Netflix has released.
The short 31-second teaser features footage from seasons 1–3 before showing glimpses of footage from season 4, including Hopper with a flamethrower, Steve looking for something underwater, and Eleven being held by two men. “In 2022 the global phenomenon returns”, reads the text.
An exact release date has not yet been announced in 2022. But when Stranger things Season 4 is out, about three years will have passed since the previous season’s release in July 2019, marking the longest hiatus in the history of the series. Seasons 1 and 2 were released a year apart, and there was a two-year hiatus between seasons 2 and 3.
Production of the fourth season of Stranger Things began in February 2020, but was halted in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production resumed in September 2020.
In an interview with Collider this week, executive producer Shawn Levy discussed the reasons for Season 4’s long delay, noting the season’s “sprawling geography” and “multiple location shooting” during the pandemic.
“It’s kind of a perfect combination of COVID shutdown storm, slower pace of filming in COVID protocols and health protocols, which are needed, and coincidentally we chose Season 4 to be by far – and I mean, by far. long, far, far away – the most ambitious of the seasons, “he said.
Netflix released its first teaser for season 4 in February 2020, featuring Hopper alive but imprisoned in the USSR.
Another teaser followed in May of this year, with a brief glimpse of Eleven.
Prior to the closure of production, series creators Matt and Ross Duffer released a statement summarizing the plot of the fourth season.[Hopper] he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wastes of Kamchatka, where he will face both human and other dangers. Meanwhile, in the United States, a new horror is beginning to emerge, something long since buried, something that connects everything … “
