Since 2016, Electronic Arts has been offering special live events where they could showcase their upcoming games outside of events like E3. This year, however, there will be no EA Play live events.
A spokesperson for EA said this in an interview with IGN. The spokesperson said: “We love EA Play Live because it’s our way to connect with our players and share the news with you all. However, this year things are not in line to show you everything on one date. We have exciting things happening in our world class studios and this year we will reveal a lot more about these projects when the time is right for each of them. We look forward to spending time with you throughout the year. “
For EA fans, this doesn’t necessarily mean bad news. Last year, EA had four different live streams that preceded the big event, and the different streams focused on different areas, including Battlefront 2042, Apex Legends, and EA Sports. Taken literally, the spokesperson seems to indicate that they are simply not ready to show us a lot of great news all at once. Gamers are likely to be willing to wait for more refined presentations just as we are willing to wait for more refined games.
There should be no shortage of fantastic livestream game announcements this year, including those of E3 which, again, is digital only this year. And when EA is ready to give us some news, we are sure it will be worth the wait.
What are you hoping to hear EA announce? Let us know in the comments!
